The cover of Bird's Seven Things I Wish Christians Knew about the BibleShow up for the content, stay for the witty banter!

We’ve all seen the Bible used poorly—whether to justify war, to endorse a diet, or to claim anything in the name of Philippians 4:13! In Seven Things I Wish Christians Knew about the Bible, Michael F. Bird describes a reasonable approach to the Bible firmly in the evangelical tradition.

Bird’s not afraid of theologically inflammatory arguments. He tackles infamous terms like “inspired,” “literal,” and “inerrant.” Perhaps surprising to North American Christians, Bird reminds us that the inerrancy war is not a global phenomenon! This book may frustrate fundamentalists on some points but it will aggravate progressives even more. (Just wait until you read his ‘translation’ of a Union Seminary Tweet!)

This book would be an excellent resource for church Bible studies, youth discipleship, and even introductory Bible College courses. I’ll close by echoing Dru Johnson’s blurb: “Finally, a book I can simply hand to fellow Christians and say, ‘Read this!”
