The Path of DaggersThe Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. In one book, called the eighth book by . . . well, by everyone. I’m deep in the thick of this audiobook running adventure! (If you haven’t read the books, I apologize for the nonsensical intro!)

Unfortunately, The Path of Daggers is one of the weakest entries in the series. The use of the Bowl of the Winds was spectacular. Aside from that, however, we spend a lot of time watching secondary plot threads develop slowly. For the first time, the end of the book feels weak with an unanticipated Asha’man attack that doesn’t resolve.

That said, the slog is worth the reward. The slow pace does give you time to live with the characters and get to know them. By the time the threads start to combine and intensify, you are definitely invested in these people.

Now on to the final “trilogy” of original Jordan works: Winter’s Heart, Crossroads of Twilight, and Knife of Dreams.
