The cover of Williams' Tokens of TrustEvery once in a while it’s good to return to the basics of the faith. For a pastor or a theologian, it is easy to get wrapped up in esoteric details and lose sight of the larger picture. Rowan Williams to the rescue!

Tokens of Trust is the published version of a series of talks the 104th Archbishop of Canterbury gave leading up to Easter. Williams structured his talks around the basic themes of the ecumenical creeds. He answers questions like:

  • What does it mean to believe in God?
  • Can God possibly be almighty in the midst of so much evil and disaster
  • To what purpose is the church called?

This book is suitable for a broad audience—from people exploring the faith for the first time to seasoned pastors and theologians. Fun fact: I found it helpful to slow down and read in Williams’ British accent. Try it and the meandering conversational-style structure of the sentences will come to life!
