The world is non-Christian only in a historical sense. It is already in God’s plan and purpose. God so loved the world—the entire world—that he gave his only begotten Son (John 3:16); it is the whole world for which Christ died. It is true that many, even within Christendom, have not accepted him and stubbornly refuse to do so. But, even they are within the saving work of Christ, not outside the ambit of his grace. Hence, those who have not yet accepted him are not enemies of the faith but family members in the making.
