It is interesting to note that the apostle Paul tried to contextualize in his sermon at Athens (Acts 17:22-23), but it was not until he bore witness to the cross and resurrection of Christ that he began to make an impression on his hearers. Scripture indicates that he had very few converts from this engagement. When he went to Corinth he resolved to preach only Jesus Christ and him crucified (1 Cor 2:1-5).
