The theologians do not thrill when the prophet cries, ‘Thus saith the Lord!’ They first examine his credentials.
—Clifton Wolters, Introduction to Julian of Norwich: Revelations of Divine Love, 12.
(Your reaction to this quote should immediately tell you whether you’re more theologian or prophet!)
This basicly saying or what i get from it is to save the lords words. Don’t think Im wierd but thats hoe i see it.
In everything, Wolters sought to teach the difference between knowing about God and actually knowing him. So he was himself a prophet. And what a prophet!
In his many introductions to these great classics of spirituality, he actually adds to their depth and availability.
We need more prophets of his calibre.
